Coal Creek Excursion

Coal Creek Excursion

This is our grade outside the General Store at Coal Creek.

As part of our Australian History topic we went on an excursion to Coal Creek. We saw olden day soap, toys, underpants made from flour bags, hard boiled lollies. We went to the general store, an old school room, an old train, a small chapel, gold miners house, the magistrate and the doctor’s and chemist house.

Here is a photo of our class attempting to dress up in olden day clothing. We made the photo black and white to make it look more authentic

All the seniors (grade 5/6) attempted to dress up like a school in the olden days. We learned about arithmetic (aka maths); games they played (skipping, marbles); the many strict rules (like girls can’t play with boys); fancy writing and calling teachers mam and sir.
